Gowrie Victoria is now assisting experienced Early Childhood professionals to meet the minimum training requirements under the Regulations.
Gowrie Victoria has been engaged by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to deliver an approved professional development course to experienced staff eligible for grandfathering provisions.
The content of the course will recognise the considerable practical experience of participants. In doing so it will provide an introductory overview of early childhood theory, with a particular focus on:
- Nurturing and responsive interactions
- Supporting children's development
- Programming, documenting and extending children's learning
Gowrie Victoria will commence delivering the professional development course in term 2, 2010. The course will comprise 10 hours of face to face training and will be delivered free of charge throughout Victoria. In addition, staff members and family day carers who complete the Gowrie Victoria course may apply to the Department for assistance to complete Recognition of Current Competence at Gowrie Victoria. Support will be provided to a limited number of applicants. Staff members and family day carers are required to undergo an assessment by Early Childhood Australia, Victoria branch Qualifications Advisory Committee to determine their eligibility. www.earlychildhoodvictoria.org.au
